Dr. Cathy D. Cornelius

Cathy D. Cornelius is the retired Assistant Dean for Student Success in the College of Business and Economics at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She joined the university in 1980 and the School of Business and Economics in 1988 as secretary in the Department of Economics and Transportation. Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science degree in 1997, Cathy returned to school in 2000, pursued and completed the Master of Science in Instructional Technology in 2001 and Ph.D. in 2013.

Dr. Cornelius is an experienced higher education administrator with over thirty plus years of dedicated and progressive services at North Carolina A&T State University. In 2003, Cathy was promoted to Director of Student Services in the School where she served until July 2013. During that period, she successfully enhanced corporate placement initiatives with Cargill, Caterpillar, GE, UBS, Ford, Cintas, Rockwell Collins, Wal Mart Sams Club, Bank of America and others. Other student services accomplishments include Chair, Academic Summer Bridge Program, 2007-08, Co-chair, Aggie Impact Scholars Summer Bridge Program 2009, and facilitation of BusinessWeek cover wrap for the School (2006 and 2007).

During the 2013-14 academic years, Cathy was promoted to Assistant Dean for Student Success. In this position, Cathy coordinated all student services activities, beginning with recruitment and orientation activities and continuing through efforts to build strong relationships with alumni. She was the School’s representative to the business community to establish relationships leading to guest speakers, mentorships, judging of on-campus competitions, internship opportunities, and permanent job placements.

Cathy also served as faculty advisor, liaison/advisor to the Student Leadership Council, the Young Professional Advisory Council and similar groups.
